Teddyhearts is dedicated to providing children, with congenital heart defects, a Teddy bear just like them. We opened Teddyhearts hospital in 2008. Since then, bears have come from all across the United States seeking congenital heart surgery to fix their heart defects. It didn't take long before we found that our teddy bears were not thriving after their heart surgery. Our bears needed more than just a broken heart repair, they needed a child who understood the courage and determination it takes when dealing with a congenital heart defect. So the mission of Teddyhearts is to provide these special children a new bear, free of charge, with a "heartprint" (chest scar) as big as theirs. This "heartprint" is a badge of courage reminding both the child and their bear just how special they are. Of course the bear will continue to need medical care and the child adopting the bear is responsible for taking their bear to their doctor's appointments and future surgeries. That's why our Adoption Specialists work so hard to find a bear who has undergone the same procedure as the child interested in the adoption. If you know of a child who meets our adoption qualifications, we will happily review the application and send the child a free bear. We also take bears to hospitals in our area and provide bears to hospital bound children having heart surgery.
Teddyhearts is a non profit organization and depend on individuals like you to keep our services going, so please be sure and check out ways you can help. Any monetary contribution can go towards our goal of providing every child needing a bear that looks just like them or undergoing heart surgery a Teddyhearts bear. Please consider a tax deductible contribution or check into the different volunteer positions available to keep our Teddyhearts Hospital doors open.
